Cleopatra has more than 10 years’ post qualification experience in corporate, insolvency, banking and insurance, employment, professional negligence litigation and advice, commercial agreements, and regulatory supervision matters. She has represented clients before the High Court (Civil and Commercial Divisions) and Court of Appeal of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court in Saint Lucia in broad areas of civil and commercial practice. She provides practical and measured advice, deploys dynamic oral and written arguments, is pro-active and works efficiently to progress matters.
Cleopatra has a strong background in international trade and investment law. Prior to being admitted to practice, she enjoyed a career in international trade negotiations and policy consultancy in the Caribbean, Europe and Africa advising on negotiations for market access, services trade, intellectual property rights and competition.
- Acted for court appointed judicial manager of an insurance company on sale of assets and appointment as receiver for equitable execution against the assets of a subsidiary company
- Represented regulatory authority in Saint Lucia in litigation up to Court of Appeal for appointment of an inspector to examine books and records of a non-bank financial institution.
- Represented international bank in proceedings to discharge worldwide freezing order implicating European Union sanctioned assets
- Represented a regional bank on a successful claim against a former director for breach of fiduciary duty
- Appointed to as liquidator for a company in voluntary liquidation.
- Regularly advises creditors, borrowers and insolvency practitioners in insolvency matters.
